As the weather warms up and you start to use your heating less, it’s easy to forget about your boiler — until something goes wrong. But summer is actually the perfect time to give your boiler some attention.
At Plumbco Heating, we help homeowners and landlords across Bristol and the surrounding areas keep their boilers running safely and efficiently, all year round.
Here’s how to get your boiler ready for summer 👇
1. Book a Boiler Service (Before the Winter Rush!)
Getting your annual boiler service in Bristol during the summer has big advantages:
-
Engineers are more available
-
You’re prepared before colder weather hits
-
It helps you avoid autumn/winter breakdowns
At Plumbco Heating, our Gas Safe engineers can service your boiler for just £7.50/month as part of our affordable maintenance plan.

2. Run Your Heating Occasionally
Even in summer, it’s a good idea to turn your heating on for 10–15 minutes once a month. This keeps internal parts moving and prevents valves from seizing up after long periods of disuse.
3. Check Your Boiler Pressure
Low or fluctuating boiler pressure can be an early sign of a problem. Check your pressure gauge (typically should be around 1–1.5 bar when cold) and top up if needed — or give us a call if you’re unsure.

4. Bleed Your Radiators
Warm months are the best time to bleed radiators, as you’re not relying on them daily. Trapped air in your system can make your heating less efficient when you need it most.
5. Consider a System Powerflush
Noticed cold spots on radiators or strange noises from your boiler? It might be time for a system cleanse to remove sludge and debris from your heating system — we can help with that too.
